Bangladesh posted a decent score of 253 runs for the loss of 6 wickets at end of the first day in the second test match against Australia on Monday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium, Chittagong.

Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bangladesh got off to a slow start and lost dashing opener Tamim Iqbal (9) in the 10th over with just 13 runs on the board.

Bangladesh found them into further trouble when out of form Imrul Kayes (4) got out with just 21 runs on the board.

Soumya Sarker and Mominul Haque managed to put up some resistance, but both of them returned to the pavilion off Nathan Lyon’s deliveries, who swept clean the Bangladesh top order.

Star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan (24 runs) failed to make much impact in the innings and after he got out, Bangladesh was in dire straits with 117 runs on the board for the loss of 5 wickets.

Bangladesh skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Sabbir Rahman then began Bangladesh’s fight back and put up a 105 run partnership for the 6th wicket.

Sabbir (66) was stumped by some brilliant by Wade off a Lyon delivery, who finished the day with 5/77.

Mushfiq (62*) and Nasir (19*) were at the crease at stumps.
