Tigers set 339-run target for Ireland in first ODI
Bangladesh set a 339-run target for visiting Ireland in the opening game of the three-match ODI series at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Ireland skipper Andrew Balbirnie won the toss and asked Bangladesh to bat first.
The Tigers scored 338 runs, the highest total in their history, in the stipulated 50 overs losing 8 wickets.
The home side handed an ODI debut to Towhid Hridoy who earlier made his T20 debut against England last week. In its bid to rotate the players ahead of the ODI World Cup later this year, Bangladesh also brought back a number of players to the fold from the previous ODI series against England in which they suffered a 2-1 loss.
Ireland made two changes to the side from its last series against Zimbabwe, which it drew 1-1. Balbirnie and offspinner Andy McBrine returned to the side, replacing Murray Cummins and Josh Little.
