West Indies have started the T20I series against Bangladesh with a comprehensive 8-wicket win in Sylhet.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Bangladesh failed to set a target of any note as they managed a meagre score of 129 for all in 19 overs.

Captain Shakib Al Hasan offered the only resistance for Bangladesh, scoring 61 runs off 43 deliveries against a dominant West Indies attack which managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals.

Shakib’s half-century was the sole highlight of an otherwise lacklustre batting performance by Bangladesh, according to bdnews24.com.

Mahmudullah and Ariful Hoque were the only other batsmen to reach double figures, scoring 12 and 17 respectively.

Left-arm seamer Shannon Cottrell spearheaded the West Indies’ bowling attack, finishing with figures of 4-28 in his allotted 4 overs, while Keemo Paul also picked up 2 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs.

West Indies cruised to the target of 130 runs inside 11 overs on the back of a blistering half century by opener Shai Hope.

Hope’s inning of 55 runs off 23 balls was followed by a quick-fire 28 by Keemo Paul that secured the World T20I champions a decisive victory.
