Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal has won the toss and opted to bat first against Sri Lanka in the first One Day International of the three-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today (Sunday).
Earlier, doubt had been cast on the series when three members of the Sri Lanka contingent- Shiran Fernando, Isuru Udana and bowling coach Chaminda Vaas tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday night.
But the Bangladesh Cricket Board gave the go-ahead to hold the first ODI when Udana and Vaas returned negative results in the second Covid test on Sunday.
The match will take place as per ICC protocol by isolating the Covid-positive player Fernando who returned positive result twice, according to a BCB official.
