Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers: Bangladesh to start campaign against Bahrain on Sunday

Bangladesh Women’s Football team will start their campaign in the four-team Group C of the AFC Women's Asian Cup Australia’ 2026 Qualifiers taking on upper ranked Bahrain in Myanmar capital Yangon on Sunday (June 20).

The match will kick-off at 6:30 pm Bangladesh time at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.

Bangladesh Women’s team, which clinched the SAFF Women’s title for the 2nd consecutive times, has been placed in Group C of the Asian tournament along with upper ranked Myanmar, Bahrain and Turkmenistan.

In the remaining Group C matches, will play hosts Myanmar on July 2 at 3:30 pm (BST) and Turkmenistan on July 5 at 6:30 pm (BST), also at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon.

The champion team of the four-team Group C will earn the rights to play in the final round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup to be held in Australia next year

Ahead of the Sunday’s vital match, Bangladesh women’s team made their final preparation session Saturday morning at Yangon Training Field-5 from 7 am to 8 am focusing on tactical works, set pieces and metal readiness.

Bangladesh team also attended in the match coordination meeting and a pre-match press conference at the games venue --Thuwunna Stadium on Yangon Saturday afternoon.

Head of Coach of Bangladesh team Peter James Butler and the head coach of Bahrain team Mohammad Adnan Hussain shared their thoughts ahead of the crucial Group C match.

Peter Butler said, our team consists of both the experienced senior players and junior are now well prepared to display their best after playing matches against tough teams like Lebanon, Indonesia and UAE.  

Bangladesh team conducted their practice session for the last few days despite the rainy weather in the Myanmar capital.

Members of Bangladesh women's team are: Rupna Chakma, Sheuly Azim, Shamsunnahar Sr, Shamsinnahar Jr, Monika Chakma, Ritu Porna Chakma, Maria Manda, Tohura Khatun, Afeida Khandakar (Captain), Sagorika, Shaheda Akhter Ripa, Nilufa Yesmin. Munki Akter, Swapna Rani, Khohati Kishku, Sourovi Akhand Preeti, Sultana, Shorna Rani, Mily Akter, Joynob Bibi Rita, Halima Akhter, Nabiran Khatun and Umhela Marma.
