The top 10 most-traded companies accounted for 28.07 per cent of the weekly market turnover this week, with Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) making its way to the top of the turnover chart of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
The premier bourse clocked a total turnover of Tk 36.80 billion, with the top 10 companies featuring a turnover of Tk 10.33 billion.
Bangladesh Shipping Corporation generated Tk 1.78 billion, or 4.85 per cent of the weekly turnover, to get to the top of the turnover chart.
Gemini Sea Food came second on the chart as it posted a turnover of Tk 1.29 billion, grabbing 3.51 per cent of the market turnover.
During the week, these top 10 companies' performance was mixed in terms of price movements on the premier bourse.
Of them, six companies experienced price appreciation ranging between 0.09 per cent and 25.16 per cent.
The companies are Bangladesh Shipping Corporation, Intraco Refuelling Station, Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa, Rupali Life Insurance Company, Paper Processing and Packaging, and aamra networks.
Of them, the share price of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation gained 3.13 per cent, Intraco Refueling 5.37 per cent, Sea Pearl Beach Resort 0.09 per cent, Rupali Life Insurance 25.16 per cent, Paper Processing 12.18 per cent and aamra networks 3.02 per cent.
Following a significant price gain, Rupali Insurance made the chart of top 10 gainers of the DSE.
The remaining four most-traded companies lost their prices between 2.49 per cent and 19.65 per cent.
Of the companies, the share price of Gemini Sea Food declined 19.65 per cent, Eastern Housing 6.86 per cent, Agni Systems 6.19 per cent and Unique Hotel & Resorts 2.49 per cent.
