Bay Leasing has reported a loss of Tk 47.29 million in the third quarter through September 2025, which is about one-fifth of the loss incurred in the same quarter of the previous year.

In a stock exchange filing on Monday, the non-bank financial institution (NBFI) posted a loss of Tk 0.34 per share in the July-September quarter of 2025, compared to Tk 1.67 per share in the same quarter a year earlier.

The company showed a slight year-on-year increase in interest income and a sharp reduction in interest payments, which improved its net interest position in the quarter through September.

This was accompanied by higher income under the "other income" segment. Income increased from Tk 2.08 million in the third quarter of 2024 to Tk 55.32 million in the third quarter of 2025.

The NBFI also reportedly slashed operating expenses by 19 per cent year-on-year in the third quarter last year through measures including salary and rent cuts.

Surprisingly, its provision was a negative figure, and it paid 60 per cent less tax in the quarter through September last year compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

The company has not offered any explanation for the data.

In the nine months through September last year, however, the company experienced a surge in losses-from Tk 358.78 million during the period in 2024 to Tk 472.61 million in the same period of 2025.

Meanwhile, the share price of the NBFI increased by 10 per cent to Tk 4.4 per share on Monday on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
