Dhaka bourse hits two-month high in turnover

Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed its highest turnover in two months on Tuesday.

It posted a turnover of Tk 8.36 billion, which is also a 26 per cent rise from the previous session and down by Tk 8 million from the March 5 turnover.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, gained 15 points, despite more than 50 per cent of the shares of the prime bourse witnessing a correction.

A total of 395 issues were traded on the DSE floor. Of them, 145 advanced, 204 declined, and 46 remained unchanged.

In the day's trading, the power grid alone contributed 42 points to the DSE index, while Square Pharmaceuticals, Orion Pharma, LafargeHolcim, Beximco Pharmaceuticals, and BSRM Steels Limited jointly added more than 70 points to it.

Maksons Spinning Mills Limited was the second-highest gainer after Apex Tannery Limited.

The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 prominent companies, advanced by almost 1.31 points to 1995, while the DSES index, which represents Shariah-based companies, gained 5.71 points, reaching 1,228.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher, with the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) soaring by 15 points to 15,953.
