DSE, CSE open optimistic Tuesday

Stocks witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading on Tuesday as investors active on sector-wise stocks amid optimism.

Brokers said investors are optimistic as the Dhaka bourse reconfirmed the Chinese Consortium for its strategic partner.

Following the previous three days’ fall, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed positive trend in early trading amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 40 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 30 points at 10:45 am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX gained more than 43 while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 42 points at 11:00 am.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 43.06 points or 0.72 per cent to reach at 5,983 points at 11:00 am.

The two other indices also saw upturn till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 12 points or 0.56 per cent to reach at 2,201 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 5.84 points or 0.42 per cent to stand at 1,396 points till then.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 650 million when the report was filed at 11:00 am.

Of the issues traded till then, 209 advanced, 26 declined and 14 remained unchanged.

Unique Hotel & Resorts was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 98 million changing hands, closely followed by Grameenphone Tk 65 million, Fu-Wang Food Tk 26 million, LankaBangla Finance 25 million and Alif Industries Tk 22 million.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI- advancing 42 points to stand at 18,409, also at 11:00 am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also gained 26 points to stand at 11,109 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 49 gained, 7 declined and 11 issues remained unchanged with Tk 31 million in turnover.
