Eastern Bank recommends 30pc dividend

The board of directors of Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) has recommended 20 per cent cash and 10 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2018.

The final approval of dividend will come during the annual general meeting (AGM) scheduled to be held on May 16 at Police Convention Hall in Dhaka, said an official disclosure on Thursday.

The record date for entitlement of the dividend is May 5.

In 2018, the EBL which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 1993 disbursed 20 per cent cash dividend.

The bank has also reported consolidated earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 4.22, consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share of Tk 31.67 and consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of Tk 16.13 for the year ended on December 31, 2018 as against Tk 3.29, Tk 29.64 and Tk (9.21) respectively for the same period of the previous year.

The bank’s paid-up capital is Tk 7.38 billion and authorised capital is Tk 12 billion while the total number of securities is 737.99 million, according to DSE website.

The sponsor-directors own 31.56 per cent stake in the bank, while the institutional investors own 43.94 per cent, foreign 0.51 per cent and the general public 23.99 per cent.
