Indices up in first hour of trading, majority stocks gain at DSE, CSE

Trading began with an upward trend at both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) on Thursday, the last working day of the week, as most company shares witnessed price gains.

In the first hour of trading, DSE’s key index, DSEX, advanced by 10 points.

Among the other indices, the Shariah-based DSES edged up by 1.0 point, while the blue-chip index DS30 gained 4.0 points.

Prices rose for most companies in early trading. Of the issues traded, 188 advanced, 125 declined, and 68 remained unchanged, reports UNB.

The turnover at the DSE crossed Tk 1300 million during the opening hour, reflecting active investor participation.

Meanwhile, the CSE’s overall index gained 13 points in the early session.

Out of 79 issues traded on the CSE during the first hour, 45 advanced, 20 declined, and 14 remained unchanged.

Turnover on the port city bourse stood at over Tk 11.9 million during the same period.
