Munir elected president of CMJF, Ahsan general secretary

Md Munir Hossain has been elected president of the Capital Market Journalists’ Forum (CMJF), while Ahsan Habib has been elected general secretary for a two-year term for the 2026-27 term.

They were elected at the biannual general meeting (BGM) held at the CMJF office in Dhaka on Friday evening.

After the election, Chief Election Commissioner Nasir Uddin Chowdhury announced the results. Other members of the election commission were Mynul Hasan Sohel, Shahnaz Sharmin Rinvi, and Abu Ali.

Munir Hossain bagged 49 votes, defeating Golam Samdani Bhuiyan, head of news at Sarabangla.net, who got 32 votes.

Ahsan Habib bagged 48 votes, defeating Junayed Shishir, business in charge at Desh Rupantor, who received 32 votes.

Babul Barman, senior reporter of The Financial Express, was re-elected vice-president, while Tahidul Islam Rana, senior reporter of Independent Television, was elected assistant general secretary.

Mahfuzul Islam was re-elected finance secretary, and senior reporter Obaidur Rahman was elected office secretary.

Five members were elected to the executive committee: Alamgir Hossain, Md Sajjad Hosain, Sushanto Sinha, Mostafizur Rahman, and SM Zakir Hossain.

Eighty-one out of 83 voters cast their votes in the election.
