NAVs of listed MFs decline as stock prices dip

The listed mutual funds (MFs) saw a decline in their net asset values (NAVs) as the stocks lost their value following price corrections in all four trading days of the last week.

The fund managers are required to invest at least 60 per cent of their funds in listed securities. As a result, NAVs of the MFs vary on the basis of stock prices.

Last week, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed a heavy price correction and the benchmark DSEX index dropped 2.59 per cent or 163.49 points to close at 6148.76 points on August 11, down from 6,312.25 on August 4.

During the period, the market capitalisation of the DSE declined by 1.98 per cent or Tk 102.10 billion and stood at Tk 5.03 trillion on August 11.

Of the listed MFs, NCCBL Mutual Fund-1 reported a NAV of Tk 11.17 per unit on the basis of current market price at the close of operation on August 11. The fund's NAV per share was Tk 11.25 on August 4.

The LR Global Bangladesh Mutual Fund One posted a NAV of Tk 10.91 per unit as on August 11, down from Tk 11 at the close of operation on August 04.

The MBL 1st Mutual Fund reported a NAV of Tk 10.42 per unit on the basis of current market price on August 11, while the figure was Tk 10.52 as on August 4.

AIBL 1st Islamic Mutual Fund logged a NAV of Tk 10.02 per unit on August 11, down from Tk 10.09 as on August 4.

The NAV of Green Delta Mutual Fund stood at Tk 10.64 per unit on the basis of current market price as on August 11 whereas the value was Tk 10.72 at the close of operation on August 4.

DBH First Mutual Fund reported its NAV of Tk 10.87 per unit as on August 11, down from Tk 10.95 as on August 4.

Reliance One, the first scheme of Reliance Insurance Mutual Fund, posted a NAV of Tk 14.45 per unit as on August 11 whereas the value was Tk 14.49 as on August 4.

The NAV of Grameen One: Scheme Two stood at Tk 20.20 per unit at the close of operation on August 11, down from Tk 20.38 as on August 4.

However, ICB AMCL First Agrani Bank Mutual Fund posted a NAV of Tk 11.48 per unit on the basis of current market price as on August 08 while the value was Tk 11.44 on the close of operation on August 02.
