Bangladeshi producers have started producing eco-friendly fabrics to grab a greater share of the global market against the backdrop of growing concerns about climate change.
Paramount Textiles, one of the fabric exporters of the country, is the pioneer in the green push in this sector and started producing eco-friendly world-class fabrics from jute for the first time in Bangladesh.
It organised an 11-day exposition in the city recently to introduce the world class eco-friendly fabrics made from jute to the international market.
The event, which started on May 4, was attended by buyers representating reputed international brands in the clothing industry from various countries including Europe.
In this fair, about 2000 types of quality fabrics including jute, cotton, linen, tencel, viscose, seersucker, structure, voile, poplin and highly-densed fabrics were displayed.
The organisers said that the eco-friendly fabrics made of jute received a huge response in the global market.
Alock Kumar Das, vice chairman of the company, said, "The world-class fabrics of Paramount Textile meant for making spring and summer clothes was displayed in the fair for the buyers of different countries of the world."
The representatives of reputed global companies including Uniqlo, H&M, Zara, M&S, C&A and Tom Taylor participated in this event.
He also said that already they were working with domestic and foreign brands. To maintain the continuity in the future, they invested heavily in the development and research sector.
"We are presenting Bangladesh through our fabrics in the world forum," he added.
