Stocks open marginally lower on Sunday as jittery investors are trading cautiously ahead of earnings disclosures of June closing companies.
Following the previous week's flat closing, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 7 points or 0.11 per cent to 5,719 within the first hour of trading at 11:00 am, when the report was filed.
The blue-chip DS30 index, a group of 30 prominent companies, also lost 8 points to 2,092. However, the DSES index, which represents Shariah-based companies, rose 0.10 point to 1,245 till then.
Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 2 billion till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 208 advanced, 118 declined, and 59 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor till then.
Sonali Aansh Industries was the most traded stock till then with shares worth Tk164 million changing hands.
