Stocks ended flat on Sunday as investors booked short-term profits.
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) decreased by 2.69 points to settle at 5,198.78.
The market has been on an upward trend for the last two weeks. The index gained more than 88 points, while market capitalisation surged by Tk 249 billion to Tk 6,897 billion over this period.
The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, increased by 2.53 points to 1,921.64, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, decreased by 2.12 points to 1,153.6 by the close.
Turnover, a crucial market indicator, stood at Tk 4.16 billion, up 3.53 per cent from the previous trading day.
The majority of stocks saw a price decrease, as out of the 409 issues traded, 138 closed higher, 196 ended lower, and 75 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Robi Axiata was the most-traded stock, with shares worth Tk 198.82 million changing hands, followed by BRAC Bank, Grameenphone, BDCOM Online, and Bangladesh Shipping Corporation.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended lower, with its All Share Price Index (CASPI) decreasing by 25 points to settle at 14,505 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) declining by 11 points to settle at 8,791.
The port city bourse traded 1.88 million shares and mutual fund units, with a turnover of Tk 45.49 million.
