Stocks end negative, DSEX drops by 34.14 points

Stocks ended negative on Sunday, as investors remained active on both sides of the trading fence while selling dominance in particular large caps. 

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), dropped 34.14 points to settle at 5,132.39.

The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, decreased by 17.28 points to 1,895.75, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, decreased by 10.92 points to 1,150.92.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 3.18 billion, down 10.61 per cent from the previous trading day.

The majority of the stocks saw a price decrease, as out of the 403 issues traded, 75 closed higher, 261 ended lower, and 67 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

ADN Telecom was the most-traded stock, with shares worth Tk 191.64 million changing hands, followed by Dragon Sweater and Spinning, Midland Bank, Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries, and Far East Knitting & Dyeing Industries.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended lower, with its All Share Price Index (CASPI) decreasing 65.55 points to settle at 14384 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) decreasing 40.58 points to settle at 8757.

The port city bourse traded 5.08 million shares and mutual fund units with a turnover volume of Tk 128.89 million.
