Stocks ended positive on Thursday, as bargain hunters continued to take positions in lucrative issues in anticipation of a slight reversal from the market’s prolonged bearish.
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased 9.11 point to settle at 5,179.18.
The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, decreased by 1.33 points to 1,912.90, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, increased by 0.56 points to 1,147.80 by the close.
Turnover, a crucial market indicator, was Tk 4.30 billion, down 8.8 percent from the previous trading day.
The majority of the stocks saw their prices increase. Out of the 395 issues traded, 195 closed higher, 147 ended lower, and 53 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
Eastern Housing was the most-traded stock with shares worth Tk 133.36 million changing hands, followed by Beach Hatchery, Orion Infusion, Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries and Khulna Printing & Packaging.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended up with its All Share Price Index (CASPI) increasing 70.1 points to settle at 14512 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) increasing 42 points to settle at 8803.
The port city bourse traded 2.34 million shares and mutual fund units with a turnover volume of Tk 96.89 million.
