Stocks end slightly positive

Stocks ended slightly positive on Thursday, snapping a six-straight day's falling streak as optimistic investors invested fresh funds in lucrative shares.

The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased 0.38 point to settle at 5,112.89.

The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, increased by 7.55 points to 1,903.85, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, decreased by 3.55 points to 1,133.98 by the close.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 3.90 billion, up 24.12 per cent from the previous trading day.

The majority of the stocks saw a price decrease, as out of the 395 issues traded, 120 closed higher, 219 ended lower, and 56 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Agni Systems was the most-traded stock, with shares worth Tk 202.81 million changing hands, followed by BRAC Bank, MJL Bangladesh, Far East Knitting & Dyeing Industries, and Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended down with its All Share Price Index (CASPI) decreasing 38.28 points to settle at 14294 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) decreasing 19.71 points to settle at 8701.

The port city bourse traded 4.54 million shares and mutual fund units with a turnover volume of Tk 127.75 million.
