Stocks go up on large-cap vibe

Stocks on Tuesday witnessed an upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges were found rising with higher activities of some large-cap securities.

DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 52.99 points, or 0.87 per cent, to settle at 6,150.22.

Two other indices also ended higher.

Of them, DSE 30, comprising blue chips, rose 7.73 points to finish at 2,111.09, and DSE Shariah (DSES) advanced 12.64 points to close at 1,354.39.

At the DSE, out of the day’s 394 securities, prices of 255 securities closed higher against 92 losing issues.

The day’s trade value at the DSE increased to Tk 9398.70 million, which was Tk 6624.58 million in the previous session of the week.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with an upward trend, with its major CASPI rising 177.90 points to close at 17442.80.

At the CSE, 272 issues were traded. Of those, 171 closed higher and 76 closed lower when 9.38 million shares worth Tk 184.8 million changed hands.
