Stocks opened positive on Sunday with high volatility as investors were active on both sides of the trading fence amid ongoing earnings disclosures.
The market observed volatility initially as buyers and sellers remained active on both sides of the trading fence to grab the realm of the market momentum based on the earnings disclosures.
Following the previous day’s rise, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) went up by 1.25 or 0.02 per cent to 5,356 at 11:20am, when the report was filed.
The DS30 index, a group of 30 prominent companies, gained 1.23 points to 1,987 while DSES index, which represents Shariah-based companies, saw a fractional gain of 0.05 points to 1,189.
Turnover, another important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 1.85 billion till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 197 advanced, 119 declined, and 55 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor till then.
Far East Knitting & Dyeing was the most traded stock till then, with shares worth Tk 99 million changing hands.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange saw an upward trend till then with its All Shares Price Index (CASPI)—gaining 37 points to stand at 14,918 while the Selective Categories Index – CSCX rose 20 points to reach 9,082 till then.
