Trading and official activities on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will resume tomorrow (Tuesday) after the Eid holidays.
Bourses remained closed for seven days from 17 March to 23 March, including weekly holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
Trading time will also return to normal schedule and begin at 10:00 am as usual and continue until 2:30 pm, including a 10 minutes post-closing session, a DSE official said.
During the holy Ramadan, trading period was 10:00 am to 1:50 pm, including 10 minutes post-closing session.
Meanwhile, the DSE closed higher on March 16, the last trading day before Eid holidays, as bargain hunters returned to buy undervalued blue-chip stocks, although overall sentiment remained cautious amid escalating Middle East war.
The prime index of DSE went up by 35 points or 0.65 per cent to settle at 5,354 on March 16.
Two other indices also edged higher. The DSE30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose more than 7 points to finish at 2,050 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 9 points to close at 1,080.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 4.60 billion on March 16, a 12 per cent down over the previous day.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher on March 16 with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI –gaining 50 points to 15,030 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX –rising 17 points to close at 9,165.
