The chairman and four commissioners of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) have resigned from their positions, sources said.
A BSEC release has confirmed the decision of resignation by its chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood.
“After performing the role of Chairman, BSEC for the last 21 months, I have decided to resign from the public position to focus on personal endeavors,” the BSEC release quoted the chairman as saying.
Asked, a BSEC official said Chairman Maqsood did not attend the office on Thursday. The chairman asked BSEC officials to deliver a message regarding his decision to resign from the position, he added.
“We had taken over the leadership role in the most turbulent times and immediately began a long overhaul of the legal framework and market discipline,” the release added.
Asked whether the chairman and four commissioners have already resigned, the BSEC sources replied in the affirmative.
