Daffodil Computers generates highest turnover

Ten most traded cos account for 23pc transactions

Daffodil Computers generated the highest turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday, as the ten most traded companies accounted for 23 per cent of transactions.

On Tuesday, the IT company held its annual general meeting (AGM), which approved 10 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2019.

According to the DSE data, some 1.72 million shares of Daffodil Computers were traded, generating a turnover of 102 million, which was 3.34 per cent of the day's total turnover of Tk 3.02 billion.

The company's share closed at Tk 60.50 on Thursday, soaring 3.95 per cent over the previous day.

Its share traded between Tk 42 and Tk 61.80 in the last one year.

The company, listed on the DSE in 2006, disbursed 12 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 499.12 million and authorised capital is Tk 2.0 billion while the 1total number of securities is 39.64 million.

The sponsor-directors own 41.34 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 19.02 per cent and the general public 39.64 per cent as on November 30, 2019, the DSE data showed.

Northern Jute Manufacturing Company came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 88 million changing hands. The company's share fell 5.90 per cent to close at Tk 773 each.

United Power clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 79 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 257.60, soaring 6.05 per cent.

National Life Insurance emerged as the fourth, with shares worth Tk 74 million changing hands. The life insurer's share price rose fell 0.72 per cent to close at Tk 288.50 each.

Khulna Power notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 64 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 44.80 each, losing 1.10 per cent.

The turnover of Sinobangla Industries was Tk 64 million. The company's share price dropped 2.44 per cent to close at Tk 84.10.

Ring Shine Textiles featured a turnover of more than Tk 58 million. The recently listed company's share closed at Tk 10.90 each, losing 2.68 per cent further.
