DSE, CSE witness slow trend in early trading

Stocks on both bourses witnessed positive trend in early hour of trading Thursday amid slow movement as investors mostly followed cautious stance ahead of year-closing.

Following the previous day’s correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw negative trend while the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened positive trend with low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse fell 2.40 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse advanced 21 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse gained 3.39 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index (CAPSI) of port city bourse advanced 18 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 3.39 points or 0.05 per cent to reach at 6,199 points, when the report was filed.

The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips advanced 1.92 points or 0.08 per cent to reach at 2,233 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 2.38 points or 0.17 per cent to stand at 1,367.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 544 million when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 135 nudged higher, 71 declined and 61 remained unchanged.

National Tubes was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 66 million changing hands, closely followed by Emerald Oil Industries Tk 28 million, Ratanpur Steel Tk 20 million, Alif Manufacturing Company Tk 18 million and Rupali Life Insurance Tk 12 million.

The port city bourse also saw positive trend till then with its All Shares Price Index, CAPSI – advancing 18 points to stand at 19,195, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also gained 10 points to reach at 11,601 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 37 gained, 20 declined and 8 issues remained unchanged with Tk 15 million in turnover.
