Stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange ended negatively on Wednesday, as investors remained active on both sides of the trading fence, with selling dominance in particular large-cap stocks.
The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) decreased by 25.37 points to settle at 5,177.24.
The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, decreased by 5.49 points to 1,919.76, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, decreased by 6.76 points to 1,166.02 by the close.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 4.13 billion, down 17.3 per cent from the previous trading day.
The majority of the stocks saw a price decrease, as out of the 396 issues traded, 92 closed higher, 247 ended lower, and 57 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
ADN Telecom was the most-traded stock with shares worth Tk 410.29 million changing hands, followed by Midland Bank, BRAC Bank, Orion Infusion and Square Pharmaceuticals.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended up with its All Share Price Index (CASPI) increasing by 6.9 points to settle at 14,518 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) increasing by 5.74 points to settle at 8835.
The port city bourse traded 1.85 million shares and mutual fund units with a turnover volume of Tk 54.44 million.
