DSE extends losing streak for third consecutive session

The Dhaka bourse Thursday extended the losing streak for third consecutive session as the investors continued selling pressure on major sectors.

The market opened the session with a positive note but shortly afterwards the benchmark index started to decline on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

At the end of the session, the DSE broad index—DSEX—settled at 5305.17 points with a marginal loss of 0.26 per cent or 14.27 points.

The shariah based index—DSES—declined 0.34 per cent or 4.32 points to close at 1259.78 points.

The DS30 index comprising blue chip securities closed at 1890.51 points with a loss of 0.24 per cent or 4.58 points.

Of total issues traded, 117 advanced, 170 declined and 48 were unchanged on the premier bourse DSE.

The turnover stood at above Tk 8.55 billion which was 10.35 per cent less than the turnover of the previous session.

Active Fine Chemicals topped the turnover chart with a value of Tk 305 million followed by BBS Cables Tk 265 million, Bd. Thai Aluminium Tk 248 million, Dragon Sweater & Spinning Tk 237 million, and Fortune Shoes Tk 224 million.

Simtex Industries was the number one gainer with a rise of 9.57 per cent to close at Tk 33.20 each.

On the other hand, KDS Accessories was the worst loser after declining 9.68 per cent to close at Tk 99.80 each.
