DSE opens lower

The Dhaka bourse has opened the week’s first session with a loss as losers took control over the gainers.

The market initially opened with a positive note on Sunday but the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) started to decline only after two minutes of trading.

The trend continued for one hour as most of the major sectors including banks and financial institutions witnessed correction.  

DSEX, the key index of DSE, stood at 5447.43 points with a loss of 0.35 per cent or 19.61 points after one hour of the session.

The shariah based index DSES declined 0.07 per cent or 0.89 point to close at 1254.61 points, while the blue chip index DS30 closed at 1901.67 points with a gain 0.03 per cent or 0.67 point.

Of total issues are being traded, 70 advanced, 174 declined, and 40 were unchanged.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at above Tk 2.21 billion after one hour of the session on the DSE.

Khulna Power Company was on top of the turnover chart with a value of Tk 210 million followed by United Power Generation and Distribution Company Tk 166 million, IFAD Autos Tk 150 million, National Tubes Tk 126 million, and BBS Cables Tk 104 million.
