DSE transactions witness 82.08pc growth in 2017

Transactions in the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased by 82.08 per cent year-on-year with a total turnover of Tk 2.17 trillion in 2017 and a daily average turnover of Tk 8.75 billion.

In 2016, total turnover was Tk 1.19 trillion with a daily average turnover of Tk 4.94 billion, says BSS citing a statement on Thursday.

In 2017, DSE also witnessed a successful year for foreign investment by generating Tk 114.47 billion which was 30.48 per cent or Tk 26.74 billion up than the previous year.

Foreign investors passed the year by keeping their attention on purchasing shares as they purchased Tk 65.76 billion securities during the period while 5,057.04 securities selling.

In 2017, the broader index DSEX finished the year with 1,208.47 points or 24 per cent up at 6,244.52.

The DS30 for the blue chip scraps and DSES for Shariah-based companies also followed the upward trend with 472.31 points or 26.08 per cent up at 2,283.23 and 198.80 points or 16.68 per cent up at 1,390.67 respectively.
