The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has warned investors about fraudulent activities being carried out through several fake WhatsApp groups using the DSE’s name, logo and address.

The DSE, on Sunday, said a section of unscrupulous groups has been deceiving investors in innovative ways by creating WhatsApp groups under the guise of the stock exchange, UNB reports citing a media release.

Taking the issue seriously, the DSE authorities have already informed the regulator, brokerage houses, Central Depository Bangladesh Limited (CDBL), banks and other related organisations through official letters to protect the interests of investors and the market.

A notice has also been published on the DSE’s website in this regard, urging investors to remain alert against such fraudulent activities.

The DSE said intelligence surveillance is underway as a complaint has been lodged with Khilkhet Police Station.

Advising investors, the DSE said the only legitimate channels for share and securities trading are the certified brokerage houses of the DSE and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), as well as the DSE Mobile App.

It also warned investors not to be lured by promises of abnormal profits.

“Your capital is yours, your investment is yours. Do not risk your hard-earned money by falling into the traps of fraudsters. Always stay away from deception, and invest with proper knowledge and understanding,” the release added.
