The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a slight decline in trading volume on Monday, the first working day of the week after the Durga Puja holiday, as most stock prices fell.
Among the 396 issues traded, 225 experienced price declines, 119 increased, and 52 remained unchanged.
The benchmark DSEX index fell by 48.51 points, settling at 5,373 points. The DSES Shariah Index decreased by 14.29 points, closing at 1,191.57, while the DS30 Blue Chip Index dropped by 15 points to finish at 1,969.52, UNB reports.
Total trading volume at the DSE was Tk 35.07 billion (Tk 350.73 crore), reflecting a 6.87 per cent decrease from Tk 37.66 billion (Tk 376.60 crore) on the last trading day before the holiday.
At the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), the CASPI index experienced a slight drop of 0.26 points, closing at 15,094.79.
Of the 192 companies traded, 84 saw price increases, 85 declined, and 23 remained stable.
The total value of shares traded at the CSE rose to approximately Tk 0.93 billion (Tk 9.30 crore), up from Tk 0.83 billion (Tk 8.31 crore) on the previous trading day.
