Fortune Shoes generates highest turnover

Ten cos account for 23pc transactions on DSE

Ten most traded companies grabbed more than 23 per cent of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday, with Fortune Shoes making it to the top of the turnover list.

Market analysts said investors collected Fortune Shoes shares throughout the session amid positive expectations as the company's first quarter earnings rose 21.52 per cent year on year.

As per the Q1 earnings reports, the company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.96 for July-September 2019 as against Tk 0.79 for the same period in 2018.

According to DSE data, some 5.48 million shares of Fortune Shoes were traded on Thursday, generating a turnover of Tk 148 million, which is 3.44 per cent of the DSE's total turnover of Tk 4.30 billion.

The shoemaker's share traded between Tk 26.60 and Tk 27.80, before closing at Tk 26.80 on Thursday, shedding 2.55 per cent over the previous day.

Its share was traded between Tk 24.80 and Tk 42.80 in the last one year.

The company has recommended 5.0 per cent cash and 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2019. The annual general meeting will be held on December 24.

In 2018, the company disbursed 15 per cent stock dividend.

National Tubes came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 146 million changing hands. The state-run company's share closed at Tk 138.30, losing 10.31 per cent due to its price adjustment after the record date.

The Square Pharma clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 103 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 1.65 per cent to close at Tk 208.30 each.

Paramount Textile emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 101 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 26.30 each, soaring 8.23 per cent.

LankaBangla Finance notched the fifth spot, with shares worth nearly Tk 101 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 5.98 per cent to close at Tk 19.50 each.

The turnover of Kattali Textile was Tk 98 million. The company's share closed at Tk 13.60 each, advancing 3.82 per cent.

LafargeHolcim featured a turnover of Tk 77 million. The company's share price gained 10 per cent to close at Tk 38.50 each.

Doreen Power featured a turnover of Tk 75 million. The power generation company's share closed at Tk 63, advancing 1.94 per cent.

The turnover of Alif Manufacturing Company was Tk 67 million. The company's share price soared 10 per cent to close at Tk 7.70 each.

The Premier Bank also made its way to the day's top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 63 million changing hands. The bank's share price rose 1.55 per cent to close at Tk 13.10 each.
