Hong Kong shares rise after Wall Street rallies

Hong Kong stocks rose more than one per cent on Wednesday, as a semblance of calm returned to Wall Street where major indexes ended firmer after days of deep losses.

Chinese H-shares listed in Hong Kong rose 0.91 per cent at 12,801.43 while the Hang Seng Index was up 1.26 per cent at 30,981.71.

As of 04:03 GMT, China's A-shares were trading at a premium of 34.48 per cent over the Hong Kong-listed H-shares, reports Reuters.

The sub-index of the Hang Seng index tracking energy shares rose 1.1 per cent while the IT sector rose 3.2 per cent.

The top gainer on Hang Seng was AAC Technologies Holdings Inc up 5.61 per cent, while the biggest loser was Wharf Holdings Ltd which was down 2.51 per cent.
