Bangladesh’s two bourses, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), have plunged due to mainly a price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went down by 30.12 points, or 0.47 per cent, to 6,394.82. DSE Shariah (DSES) index also closed the day with 2.70 points down to close at 1,391.24. However, DSE 30, comprising blue chips, closed the day with 5.60 points up at 2,171.53.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, decreased to Tk 16,464.19 million, which was Tk 16931.45 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 399 issues traded, 296 declined, 65 advanced and 38 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
LOVELLO was the day’s top gainer, posting 9.95 per cent gain, while ICBAGRANI1 was the worst loser, losing 8.60 per cent.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) losing 61.09 points to settle at 18,500.41 and CSE Selective Categories Index (CSCX) shedding 35.08 points to close at 11,077.25.
Of the issues traded, 166 declined, 87 advanced and 33 remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city’s bourse traded 10.1 million shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value worth about Tk 249.2 million.
