The country’s both the bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – on Sunday plunged due to mainly a price fall in large-cap securities.
The benchmark index DSEX settled 39.35 points down at 6,215.19.
Two other indices of the DSE also ended lower. Of them, DSE 30, comprising blue chips, plunged 13.05 points to finish at 2,113.75 and DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 9.93 points to close at 1,349.89.
Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, increased to Tk 9,815.53 million, which was Tk 9164.20 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 392 issues traded, 242 declined, 110 advanced and 40 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
FUWANGCER topped the turnover chart, followed by CENTRALPHL, BDTHAI, ACTIVEFINE and MONNOFABR.
SUNLIFEINS was the day’s top gainer, posting 9.72 per cent gain, while GP was the worst loser, losing 8.72 per cent.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) losing 87.18 points to settle at 17841.20 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) shedding 52.51 points to close at 10,691.87.
Of the issues traded, 126 declined, 95 advanced and 39 issues remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.
The port city’s bourse traded 6.77 million shares and mutual fund units with the turnover value worth about Tk 181.8 million.
