Stocks on both bourses failed to maintain positive trend at midday on Monday as cautious investors went on booking quick-profit on sector-wise issues.
Following the previous day’s sharp rise, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw upward trend at opening amid rising trading activities.
Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 39 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 79 points at 10:45am.
After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX gained nearly 32 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse advanced 100 points at 11:00am.
After that it started to decline. After 90 minutes of trading, DSEX fell nearly 14 points while the CSE All Shares Price Index lost 18 points at 12:00 noon when the report was filed.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE stands at 6,080 points, losing 13.82 points or 0.23 per cent at 12:00 noon.
The two other indices also saw downward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips fell 6.23 points or 0.27 per cent to reach at 2,249 points.
The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) shed 4.76 points or 0.33 per cent to stand at 1,407 points till then.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at Tk 1.96 billion, when the report was filed (12:00 noon).
Square Pharmaceuticals was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 95 million changing hands, closely followed by LankaBangla Finance Tk 80 million, Brac Bank Tk 68 million, Monno Ceramic Tk 64 million, and Anwar Galvanizing Tk 63 million.
Of the issues traded till then, 99 advanced, 165 declined, and 11 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw downward trend till then with CSE All Shares Price Index of port city’s bourse – falling 18 points to stand at 18,806 points, also at 12:00 noon.
The Selective Categories Index of the port city bourse also fell 11 points to reach at 11,354 points till then.
Of the issues traded till then, 69 gained, 82 declined, and 25 issues remained unchanged with Tk 86 million in turnover.
