The country's premier bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), witnessed a positive trend on Monday while Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) suffered a loss.
After witnessing volatility, DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 18.17 points, or 0.30 per cent, to settle at 6,097.23.
Two other indices also ended higher.
Of them, the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, rose 12.31 points to finish at 2,103.36, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 4.61 points to close at 1,341.76.
However, the daily trade turnover plunged to Tk 6,624.58 million on the country's premier bourse, which was Tk 8,806.17 million in the previous session of the week.
Out of 389 issues traded, 170 advanced, 176 declined, and 43 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
BDTHAI dominated the turnover chart, closely followed by FUWANGFOOD, KPPL, ORIONINFU, and KARNAPHULI.
INTECH was the day's top gainer, rising 9.97 per cent, while GSPFINANCE was the worst loser, shedding 9.88 per cent.
But the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended the day lower, with the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) losing 21.33 points to settle at 17,264.90 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) shedding 12.73 points to close at 10,341.99.
Of the issues traded, 136 declined, 89 advanced, and 29 remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded over 5.71 million shares and mutual fund units, with a turnover value worth about Tk 130.07 million.
