Stocks see uptrend in early trading

The prices of most of the shares on both bourses witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading Wednesday as investors are active on sector-wise issues ahead of divided declarations.

Following the previous day’s marginal gain, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed upward trend in early hours amid rising trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 31 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 70 points at 10:45 am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX advanced more than 37 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 93 points at 11:00 am, when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 37.05 points or 0.61 per cent to reach at 6,125 points at 11:00 am.

The two other indices also saw upward trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips gained 11 points or 0.49 per cent to reach at 2,257 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 7.42 points or 0.52 per cent to stand at 1,414 points till then.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 1.10 billion when the report was filed at 11:00 am.

Of the issues traded till then, 202 advanced, 31 declined and 26 remained unchanged.

LankaBangla Finance was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 145 million changing hands, followed by Fu-Wang Foods Tk 108 million, Fu-Wang Ceramic Tk 55 million, Monno Ceramic Tk 44 million and Fine Foods Tk 41 million.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI- rising 93 points to stand at 18,914, also at 11:00 am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also gained 52 points to stand at 11,410 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 77 gained, 17 declined and 4 issues remained unchanged with Tk 43 million in turnover.
