Stocks witness mostly higher in early trading

The prices of most of the shares on both bourses witnessed upward trend in early hour of trading Wednesday as some investors are active on sector-wise issues.

Following the previous day’s positive movement, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive note with low trading activities.

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced more than 6.0 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse gained 13 points at 10:45 am.

After 30 minutes of trading, the DSEX went up by more than 14 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CASPI) of port city’s bourse rose 36 points at 11:00 am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 14.37 points or 0.24 per cent to reach at 5,862 points at 11:00 am.

The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 4.74 points or 0.22 per cent to reach at 2,160 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 2.72 points or 0.19 per cent to reach at 1,378 points till then.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at Tk 598 million when the report was filed at 11:00 am.

Of the issues traded till then, 138 advanced, 69 declined and 39 remained unchanged.

Golden Harvest Agro Industries was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 39 million changing hands, closely followed by Nahee Aluminum Tk 32 million, Paramount Textile Tk 31 million, Fortune Shoes Tk 29 million and BD Thai Aluminium Tk 28 million.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw upward trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CASPI-gaining 36 points to stand at 18,103, also at 11:00 am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also advanced 23 points to stand at 10,930 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 46 gained, 12 declined and 17 issues remained unchanged with Tk 15 million in turnover.
