Stocks witness positive trend in early trading

Stocks witnessed positive trend in early hour of trading Sunday amid slow trend as many investors followed cautious stance ahead of monetary policy announcement.

Following the previous week’s correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on positive note with trading activities remains low. 

Within first 15 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 4.72 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) of port city’s bourse advanced 5.12 points at 10:45am.

After first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the DSE advanced 9.88 points while the CSE All Share Price Index (CAPSI) gained 12 points at 11:00am when the report was filed.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 9.88 points or 0.16 per cent to reach at 6,132 points at 11:00am.

The two other indices also saw positive trend till then. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips gained 5.83 points or 0.26 per cent to reach at 2,247 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 1.03 points or 0.06 per cent to stand at 1,405 points.

Turnover, the important indicator of the market, stood at only Tk 404 million when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 144 advanced, 57 declined, and 36 remained unchanged.

Square Pharma was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 74 million changing hands, followed by Deshbandhu Polymer Tk 52 million, Western Marine Shipyard Tk 24 million, Golden Harvest Agro Industries Tk 21 million, and National Bank Tk 13 million.

The port city bourse – the Chittagong Stock Exchange – (CSE) also saw positive trend till then with CSE All Share Price Index- CAPSI- advancing 12 points to stand at 18,880 points, also at 11:00am.

The Selective Category Index – CSCX –also gained 4.82 points to stand at 11,396 points till then.

Of the issues traded till then, 31 gained, 17 declined, and 12 issues remained unchanged with Tk 10 million in turnover.
