A section of employees of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) issued a 24-hour ultimatum for the removal of NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem.
Non-cadre officers and third and fourth-grade employees from the income tax, value-added tax (VAT), and customs departments of the organisation formed a human in front of the NBR building in Agargaon on Monday and issued the ultimatum.
They threatened to go on indefinite work abstention at the customs, VAT, and income tax offices across the country from Wednesday if their demands are not met within the deadline.
Sources from the finance ministry on Sunday said that instead of stepping down after the fall of the Awami League government, the revenue administration chief would continue in his role for another two years, until 2026.
