29 factories receive Green Factory Award

The government has given 29 factories from 12 sectors ‘Green Factory Award 2023’ for their workplace safety, environmental compliance and other good practices.

Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury handed over the award to the representatives of the factories at a discussion meeting organised on Sunday in the capital to mark the National Occupational Health and Safety Day.

Ministry of Labor and Employment and Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishments organized the event.

State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury was present as the chief guest at the event chaired by Labour and Employ Ministry Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain.

Fourteen of the Green Factory Award-2023 winners are from textiles and readymade garment sector, four from tea, four from leather (tannery) and leather goods, two from cement, another two from tiles and ceramics, and one each from plastic, food and beverage and pharmaceutical sectors.

The award-winning factories in the textiles and readymade garment factory are AR Jeans Producers Ltd, Mahmuda Attires Ltd, Evitex Dress Shirt Ltd, Designer Fashion Ltd, Southern Garments Ltd, Pakiza Knit Composite Ltd, Epyllion Knitwears Ltd, Laila Style Ltd, GMS Textile Ltd, Genesis Fashions Ltd, Auko Tex Ltd, Four H Dyeing and Printing Ltd, Envoy Textiles Ltd, and Pahartali Textile and Hosiery Mills.

The entities receiving the award from the tea sector are Mirzapur Tea Garden, Chatlapur Tea Factory, Zareen Tea Garden and Gazipur Tea Garden while leather (tannery) sector factories are Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Ltd, Apex Footwear Ltd, FB Footwear Limited from leather (finished goods), and SAF Industries Ltd.

The other factories are Lafarge Holcim Bangladesh Limited, Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh Limited, Banga Building Materials Ltd, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Shinepukur Ceramics Ltd, Walton Hi-Tech Industries, and Akij Food and Beverage Ltd.
