Seventy-three companies received National Export Trophy for the fiscal year (FY) 2020-21 for their outstanding contribution to the development of the country's economy.
Out of the entities, Rifat Garments Ltd has received the "Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Exports Trophy" as the best exporter of the FY '21.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi handed over the trophies to the winning companies as the chief guest at a ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Commerce (MoC) selected the companies based on their export performance.
Some 28 gold, 25 silver and 19 bronze trophies were given to the export firms, representing different sectors.
Senior secretary at the commerce ministry Tapan Kanti Ghosh presided over the event.
President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Mahbubul Alam spoke at the programme as a special guest.
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) vice-chairman AHM Ahsan delivered the address of welcome.
The Ministry of Commerce and the EPB jointly organised the function.
Managing director of Rifat Garments AK Azad also spoke out of the trophy recipients at the programme.
Parliament members, dignitaries, business leaders and high civil and other officials were present at the event.
Following are the award recipients: Snowtex Outerwear Ltd bagged the gold medal in the readymade garments (woven) category while AKM Knitwear Ltd and Tarasima Apparels Ltd received silver and bronze medals respectively.
Besides, Flamingo Fashions Limited and GMS Composite Knitting Industries received gold and silver medals respectively in the knitwear category while Liberty Knitwear Limited for the bronze medal.
In the yarn category, Badsha Textile Limited secured the gold medal while Square Textiles PLC and NZ Textiles Ltd for the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Ha-Meem Denim Ltd received the gold medal in the textile fabrics category while Envoy Textiles Ltd and Akij Textiles Ltd for silver and bronze medals respectively.
Last year's Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Export Trophy-winning Universal Jeans Ltd bagged the gold medal from the garment sector (knit and oven) under Export Processing Zone (EPZ) with 100 per cent Bangladesh ownership ("C" category) while Pacific Jeans Ltd and NHT Fashion Ltd for the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Limited and Momtex received gold and silver medals in the home and specialised textile categories respectively.
Like the previous year, Noman Terry Towel Mills Limited Company bagged the gold medal in the terry towel category.
International Jute Traders, Dhaka and Sartaj Trade International received the gold and silver medals in the raw jute category.
Besides, Akij Jute Mills Ltd received the gold medal in the jute products category while Janata Jute Mills Ltd and Jobaida Karim Jute Spinners Ltd bragged silver and bronze medals respectively.
In the leather goods category, Picard Bangladesh Ltd and ABC Footwear Industries Ltd secured the gold and silver medals respectively.
Bay Footwear Ltd secured the gold medal, Shoeniverse Footwear Limited silver medal and Alliance Leather Goods & Footwear Limited won bronze medal in the footwear (all) category.
Indigo Corporation, Monsur General Trading Co Ltd and Heritage Enterprise received the gold, silver and bronze trophies respectively under the agricultural products category.
Pran Dairy Ltd, Habiganj Agro Limited and Alin Food Products Limited bagged the gold, silver and bronze trophies as agro processing food producers.
Under the flower and foliage category, MS Rajdhani Enterprise secured the gold trophy and Alin Foods Trade won the silver trophy for the FY 2020-21.
In the handicraft category, Karupannya Rangpur Ltd received the gold medal while BD Creation and Classical Handmade Products BD received the silver and bronze medals respectively for the second consecutive time.
Durable Plastic Ltd secured the gold trophy as melamine goods producer while Bengal Plastics Limited (unite -3) bagged gold, Allplast Bangladesh Ltd silver and Bengal Poly & Paper Sack Ltd bronze trophies as plastic goods producers.
Shinepukur Ceramics Ltd received the gold and Artisan Ceramics Ltd silver trophies in ceramic goods category.
Under the light engineering category, MS Meghna Bangladesh Ltd secured gold, Rangpur Metal Industries Limited (Unit-2) silver and Uniglory Cycle Components Ltd bronze trophies.
Energypac Engineering Limited secured the gold medal in the electric and electronics products category while Walton Hi-Tech Industries Ltd and BRB Cable Industries Ltd silver and bronze medals respectively.
Marine Safety System, Asia Metal Marine Services Limited and BSRM Steels Ltd bagged the gold, silver and bronze in other industrial goods category.
Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited and Square Pharmaceuticals Ltd received the gold, silver and bronze trophies respectively as pharmaceutical products producers.
Under the computer software category, Service Engine Limited received the gold trophy and Golden Harvest Infotech Ltd silver trophy.
In categories of other products and services under EPZ ('C' category), Padma Spinning & Composite Ltd secured the gold trophy, RM Interlinings Ltd silver and Star Packaging & Accessories Ltd the bronze trophy.
As packaging and accessories producer, Montrims Ltd secured the gold trophy, M&U Packaging Ltd silver and MS Uniglory Packaging Industries Limited won bronze trophy.
NR Trade International, Hair Style Factory and Gazi's Fresh Seafood bagged the gold, silver and bronze trophies under the other primary goods category while Mir Telecom Ltd bagged the gold trophy in the other services category.
Pioneer Knitwears (BD) Ltd received the gold trophy, Bea-Con Knitwear Limited silver and Ibrahim Knit Garments (Pvt) Ltd bronze trophy under the women entrepreneurs' category.
Some 71 exporters received the 'National Export Trophy' for the FY 2019-20.
