Bangladesh’s registered trucks reached 74,529 in the past decade thanks to people’s growing purchasing power as well as the soaring economy, according to official data.
A total of 74,529 trucks were registered during the period between 2011 and May 2021 while the number was 65,889 until 2010, according to statistics from Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).
However, only 2,216 trucks were registered across the country between January to May this year, the data showed.
The BRTA data also showed that a total of 51,453 trucks in the past one decade from 2011 to May 2021 were registered in Dhaka alone whereas the number of registered trucks in the capital was 23,836 until 2010.
A total of 1,611 trucks got registration in Dhaka from January to May this year, it added.
