COX'S BAZAR: A fisherman sold 81 pooa or croker fishes at Tk 4.0 million (Tk 40 lakh) in Cox's Bazar town on Wednesday.
According to sources, Jamal Uddin (32), a fisherman of Matarbari under Moheshkhali upazila, went out for fishing in the sea near the Kutubdia Island on Tuesday noon by his own fishing boat.
In the morning of Wednesday, he found 81 black "pooa fish" trapped in
his fishing net. With the help of nearby fishermen Jamal collected the fishes.
He said every fish weighed 12 kg to 18 kg. He sought a price of Tk 8.0 million (80 lakh) for the 81 fishes.
After hard bargaining he sold all the fishes to Mohammad Ishaq, a wholesale fish trader at Cox's Bazar Fishery Ghat at Tk 4.0 million on Wednesday afternoon.
