The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) may seek assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States to bring back nearly Tk 1 Trillion siphoned off from the country during the Awami League regime, ACC secretary Khorsheda Yasmeen has said.
She provided the information on Monday after a meeting between ACC officials and an FBI team, led by legal Attaché Robert Cameron and Supervisory Special Agents, at the ACC headquarters.
In response to a question from journalists, Khorsheda said the FBI has assured the ACC officials that they will assist if needed.
Earlier on Sunday, Finance Adviser Dr Saleh Uddin Ahmed announced the formation of a task force to recover money smuggled abroad.
After a meeting of the Ministry of Commerce at the Secretariat, he informed the media that work is underway on the task force's operational procedures, its members, and the process.
