Country Director of Asian Development Bank (ADB) Hoe Yun Jeong reiterated the ADB's commitment to supporting Bangladesh in its journey towards sustainable development.
He also said that the ADB will continue to work with International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh (ICCB) in expanding future collaborations, particularly in areas like trade digitalisation, financial accessibility, and sustainable business practices.
The ADB Country Director made the remarks during a meeting with ICC Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman and Executive Board Members of the ICCB at the ICCB Secretariat in Dhaka recently, said an ICCB press release on Thursday.
At the meeting, ICC Bangladesh President Mahbubur Rahman welcomed Mr Jeong and said that the ADB has been actively supporting ICC Bangladesh in its various activities over several years.
ADB's engagement dates back to 2000 when its then-President, Tadao Chino, attended the ICC Asia Conference on 'Investment in Developing Countries: Increasing Opportunities' held in Dhaka, he mentioned.
Since 2015, the ADB, through its Trade and Supply Chain Finance Programme (TSCFP), has collaborated with ICC Bangladesh to organise a series of workshops and conferences, said the press release.
The ICCB President also expressed appreciations for ADB's continued support to Bangladesh and emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in fostering economic growth.
The meeting was attended by ICCB Vice Presidents A. K. Azad and Naser Ezaz Bijoy; Executive Board Members Abdul Hai Sarker, Anwar-ul-Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), Md Fazlul Hoque, Mir Nasir Hossain, Nasir Uddin Ahmed (Pavel), Mohammad Hatem and Simeen Rahman; DBL Group Managing Director Mohammed Abdul Jabbar, ICCB Secretary General Ataur Rahman, Senior Investment Officer of ADB Bidyut Kumar Saha and ICCB General Manager Ajay B. Saha.
