Al-Arafah Islami Bank, one of the country’s leading Shariah-based banks, has initiated a 10-day Iftar distribution program for fasting people on the streets to mark the holy month of Ramadan, according to a press release.
On Sunday, March 1, 2026, the bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Mohd. Rafat Ullah Khan, inaugurated the program at a ceremony held at the bank’s head office.
At the event, Managing Director & CEO of the bank Mohd. Rafat Ullah Khan stated that Ramadan teaches self-purification, restraint, compassion, and the spirit of welfare. Standing by the underprivileged and marginalized fasting people is an integral part of these values. With this aim, Al-ArafahIslami Bank has undertaken the 10-day iftar distribution program.
Deputy Managing Directors of the Bank Md. Fazlur Rahman, Md. Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan, Md. Aminul Islam Bhuiyan, Mohammed Hossain, and S.M. Abu Jafar were also present at the program.
Al-Arafah Islami Bank is distributing Iftar daily to commuters, street children, rickshaw pullers, and other low-income individuals at key locations across the capital. This humanitarian initiative will be progressively rolled out throughout different areas of Dhaka city.
Notably, alongside its Shariah-based banking operations, Al-Arafah Islami Bank consistently implements various programs in education, health, disaster relief, and humanitarian aid as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
