Al-Arafah Islami Bank provides Tk 1 million to Statistics Department of Dhaka University

Al-Arafah Islami Bank has provided a cheque of Tk 1 million for the construction of a Data Analytics and Service Center at the Department of Statistics of Dhaka University.
The bank's Managing Director (Current Charge) Mohd. Rafat Ullah Khan handed over the cheque to the Vice-Chancellor of the University Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan at a ceremony held at the VC's conference room on Sunday, April 27, according to a media release.
The event was attended by the University Treasurer Professor Dr. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, National University Pro-VC Professor Md. Lutfar Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Statistics Professor Dr. Zafar Ahmed Khan, Convener of the Building Construction Committee Professor Sayma Sharmin, bank's Deputy Managing Director Md. Abdullah Al Mamun, S. M. Abu Zafar, Senior Executive Vice President Engineer Habib Ullah, Executive Vice President Jalal Ahmed and top executives of both institutions.
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan, thanked the Al-Arafah Islami Bank authorities for supporting the construction of the Data Analytics and Service Center in the Department of Statistics.
He emphasised further strengthening the relationship between the university and the people.
He said, "We do not want to keep Dhaka University dependent only on the government. Therefore, he called on alumni and donor organisations to cooperate in the overall development of the university, including the formation of trusts and funds and infrastructural development."
The bank's Managing Director (CC) Mohd. Rafat Ullah Khan thanked the Statistics Department authorities for involving Al-Arafah Islami Bank in the construction of the Data Analytics and Service Center.
He said that the construction of this building will make data analytics easier and more accessible, and the country's banking sector will benefit from this service centre, the release adds.
