The jewellers on Wednesday lowered the price of gold by Tk 1,167, bringing it down to Tk 97,044 per bhori within three days of price adjustment of the pure gold.
As per the decision of the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS), 22-carat gold will now be sold at Tk 8,320 per gram or Tk 97,044 per bhori (11.664 grams).
On October 1, the price of the yellow metal was revised down to Tk 8,420 per gram or Tk 98,211 per bhori.
Earlier on September 28, the price of gold was adjusted downward to Tk 8,570 per gram, equivalent to Tk 99,960 per bhori.
The latest pricing will come into effect on Thursday, BAJUS said in a press release.
“The BAJUS standing committee on pricing stated that the value of pure gold has decreased in the local market”, it was announced after their meeting.
As per the new rates, 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk 7,940 per gram, 18-carat gold at Tk 6,810 and traditional gold at Tk 5,670.
The price of silver remained static at its previous rate.
22-carat, 21-carat and 18-carat silver costs Tk 147, Tk 140 and Tk 120 per gram respectively.
Each gram of the traditional or Sanatan white metal will cost Tk 90.
The BAJUS requested all the jewellery traders to deal in the pricey metals abiding by the defined price chart.
On August 25, per bhori gold price went as high as Tk 1,01,244, crossing the 0.1 million mark in the country for the first time.
